Commissioner Joshua Wostal is a successful entrepreneur, decorated veteran, and passionate advocate for working families and disadvantaged children.

Elected as Commissioner in 2022, Wostal has brought accountability and transparency to the board in an effort to stop unsustainable wasteful spending and ensure our tax dollars are finally being used to fix our county’s crumbling infrastructure.

In 2019, he left a successful role as a Chief Operating Officer to set off and become an entrepreneur and job creator himself. He owns and operates a shipping and printing business located next to Raymond James Stadium. From hiring to managing payroll to running daily operations, Wostal handles all aspects of his small business.

Before starting his own company, Wostal was recruited by a family-owned manufacturing company that had never recovered from the Great Recession. After successfully rehabilitating the company financially, he was named the Chief Operating Officer and doubled the company’s revenue. He led the day-to-day operation of the company, driving business goals and creating solutions to better communicate with their customers. In the same role, he was also responsible for quality assurance in areas of technology and finances, giving in-depth financial projections to the Board of Directors and advising on the growth of the company.

For 10 years before Wostal started his career in business and entrepreneurship, he served our country in the Navy as an operations manager. As an operations expert, he led a 1,000+ person team, managed a multi-million-dollar budget, and provided strategic planning and management in the United States and abroad. He completed multiple deployments to the Middle East, including during Operation Enduring Freedom, and received Commendation awards for acts of courage during Taliban attacks on his forward operating base.

Wostal has a heart for disadvantaged children, and his passion is felt in the Hillsborough County community. He partners his business with ChildHelp.org, helping over 1,000 foster children. As a children’s advocate, he has volunteered with the Caps for Kids organization and as a Child Life Specialist with All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg.

He currently serves as Vice Chair of the Hillsborough Transit Authority (HART) and Transportation Planning Organization (TPO), and also serves as a member of Career Source Tampa Bay, Hillsborough/Pinellas Workforce Development Consortium, and the Tampa Bay Water Board of Directors.

He and his wife, Noelle, live in the Westchase area of Hillsborough County. They have a son, Matthew, and 3 rescue pets, dogs named Walt Disney and Piper, and a cat named Lexington. Wostal received his M.B.A. from the University of Florida.
